Wet and windy but good afternoon out. I'd recommend a visit to Culbin!

This weekend I went biking around Culbin Forest, in between Nairn and Forres. I had a great time as did my dog Dave.

We biked for almost 3 hours and he ran the whoe thing with us, only knocking Fi off her bike once.

The weather was mixed which was why we choose Culbin above walking on the West Coast, but in the trees it was great. The colours of the mosses and lichens was amazing, the dunes and salt marshes were full of insects and birds and the ponds looked almost magical, with great names like Otter pond to match.

My only regret of the day was that I forgot to take my camera

Culbin is a mixture of Forestry Commission woodland and RSPB reserve and well worth a visit. It also has good car parks with clean toilets - so important.

Then we went for tea and scones before heading home, where Dave slept remarkably well.

Thanks for suggesting this Fi.

Yes, Culbin Sands and Forest are wonderful places for walking, cycling, photography and wildlife spotting :)
