A few weeks back my husband was chatting to a guy who said they picked apples in an old orchard near my office. Ian asked me about this and I had to admit I had no idea. So we decided to investigate with the help of a bit of aerial photography (thank you Google), found a couple of points we thought it could be and yesterday lunchtime a friend and I went to investigate.
It turns out the orchard belonged to an disused asylum (which I did know was there!) along with wilded vegetable and flower gardens.
We found a wild tangle of apple trees which looked like it could be pretty promising in the autumn and a few cherries which was a treat. Further investigating meant we walked into this beautiful old hay meadow, long grass, butterflies and bees flying around and no traffic noise or signs of people at all.
Amazing only 10 minutes walk from my office and still in Inverness.
This makes me think what else might I have missed in my daily routine.
I am going to have to look harder in the furture

Sometimes they hide a variety of things that can be a dream for people. Always nice to discover something. Almost like a secret garden.:)
I know, It really made my day finding something so close to where I work but so remote from it and apples and plums in the autumn!
