I have just finished working on Bute one of the partners in the Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme (http://www.discoverbute.com/Home/tabid/36/language/en-US/Default.aspx)
The RCAHMS team had a fantastic time there. We working with locals, as equal partners, visited their archaeological sites, updated the national historic environment record (known colloquially as Canmore, see http://www.rcahms.gov.uk/canmore.html) and trained interested people in archaeology site survey skills. It was a true community engagement project, which is on-going and we had a great time exploring the wonderful place called Bute.

Comment by Placebook Scotland on March 21, 2011 at 14:39 That sound pretty interesting Alex and fairly linked with the work I am doing on community dialogue looking at landscape change. We are using research into climate change and landscape and using ecosystem services to talk about how the local landscape and the services it provides will be affected. Cultural Sevices feature quite highly in the discussions, especially in the Machars (D&G) where we did a series of workshops in October.
We should have a proper talk about this at some point. Send me a message and I'll send you my contact details. I don't know if you remember but we met at a workshop at your HQ in December - just after the first lot of snow.

Yes, I do remember meeting you. Indeed we should have a proper chat about different engagement approaches and future cross-sector partnerships. My email is alex.hale@rcahms.gov.uk
Cheers,
Alex
