Moffat. Dumfries and Galloway.

A lovely day out can be a visit to Moffat, just an hour and a half drive from the central belt and just off the M74. As you enter the small town you see on your right the park with its wonderful flower beds and for the sportsman the putting green. Children can get very wet playing in the water shoots that leap up from the…See More

This is a little of my town.

Hello.  I really believe that we should do as much as we can to give our home town, city or village some publicity other than that published in newspapers that is most often news that shows our place up in a very bad light. Yes, we are honest enough to accept that most places have an area that is letting us down and unfortunately gets the most publicity and thus a bad name for the whole area. I have recently made a small, admittedly amateur, film clip about my town, Barrhead, The Dams and other…See More

Books last longer than flowers.

My lady friend Hazel had a shock recently when the hospital found a shadow on her lungs, pure luck that it was discovered as it was anothe problem that they were investigating. Very lucky, caught in time, and she was "fast tracked" for the op.

For several years now I have been helping her with her small garden and often taking photographs. I decided that instead of a bunch of flowers, and incidentally cheaper, about £20 delivered to your door, I made a book for her of her garden, easy…

Campbel Hospital. Portsoy. 1946 to 1948.

Mrs Elizabeth Smith who lived in Buckie, was in the tuberculosis ward of Campbell Hospital for two years and during her stay she kept a diary.

In around 1949/50 she wrote her story in a notebook. She called it, "Two Years of My Life"

I am now attempting to copy all 165 pages to a…

Scarecrows in Bothwell.

Yes, scarecrows, and lots of them. Bothwell folk are holding their scarecrow festival, in aid of, Yorkhill  Childrens Hospital in Glasgow. Scattered around the town, and not only in the Main Street are scores of scarecrows, I've counted 28 on my first wander around and I've yet to make a wider search.

The actual event is 9th to the 11th September and there is much to see and do, for more info,…

Must go, hedges to be cut, grass to be mown, weeds to pull up and shrubs to cut back, I wish that they would bring back the boy scouts to do "bob-a-job".  :))
