Dundee Law View by Erik Zoha

Even the traffic sounds angry in enveloping F O G -
Bridge and ring road invisibility-cloaked.
5 degrees C bone-chilled;
Demolition-due Tayside House rising above it all.
Periscope tower of St Mary's; St Paul's spire;
Poking out of the grey duvet.
Fife coast swims hump-backed in/out of sight.

Squirrel In The Storm 23.05.11 by Erik Zoha

Grey squirrel scampers in undergrowth,

tree-climbs to avoid hurricane-force

winds bending said tree three-quarters

over. Tornado-type funnel cloud emerges

over the Firth of Tay, oaks/elms/birches

toppled - blocking lanes on Kingsway

dual carriageway. Wheelie bins/litter bins,

road signs, advertising A-boards/hoardings

blown all over to become travel hazards.

Tay Road Bridge closed completely -

94 mile an hour winds…

Enjoy Burns Night when it comes; new poem with thanks to the Bard

(Adapted from Burns' My Heart's In the Highlands)

My Heart is In Assynt by Erik Zoha

My heart is in Assynt, my heart is not here;

My heart is in Assynt, shooting Suilven;

Shooting Suilven, Ben More and Quinag too,

My heart is in Assynt, wherever I go.

Farewell to Lochinver, farewell to Kirkaig,

Adopted home of poet Norman MacCaig,

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam,

The mountains of Assynt forever i…

Although An Teallach, Gruinard Bay and Wester Ross generally would be my favourite scenic parts of Scotland, many other areas have outstanding scenery too, including NW Sutherland from Suilven up to Durness, Skye, Mull and Highland Perhshire, particularly from the Queen's View to Loch Rannoch to Rannoch Moor:- I have written a short poem.

Rannoch Moor, by Erik Zoha

Sun setting on Rannoch Moor-
Gnarled, ancient, wizened tree,
Ominous storm-filled sky,
Mile on mile of blanket moor
From Schiehallion to Buachaille.

Rowan, ash and oak remnants
Like decimated armies;
Isolated, ruined crofts,
Reminders of clearances.
Birds of prey on guard as sentries.

Hi Erik. At the moment poems and other text needs to be sent to us via placebookscotland@gmail.com, so that it can be moderated before we post it. Hope that doesn't put you off. Robin

Go you must go
Through rain hail and snow
Your boats await upon the shore
For you to go once more

(I used these words on the side of an old fishing cottage, I enjoy adding words to photos)

Hi again Erik,
It's good to hear your news. Sounds like you're involved in some exciting work. Also good to know that personal ads can be worth while. I'm pleased for you. good to hear your dad's still playing. Not so good about the break ins. I hope you've recovered from that.
Thanks for the positive crit on my blog. I'll check yours out later.
I moved from being self-employed to employing myself- now You Can Learn It Ltd- www.youcanlearnit.co.uk - Lots of diverse work coming in and meeting some great people.
Just about to start a blogging project for tutors. I'm teaching 1 student at PUSH. Communication is still sticky as ever with them. I keep in touch with Juultje via Face Book. She's back in Holland and happily working and enjoying time with her new man. I'm sure she'd be pleased to hear from you if you want to get in touch. Face Book works quite well for us. I also use it to keep in touch with other tutors and post resources.
Keep in touch. Bye for now
Sheila
