I have beautiful memories of a rainy day at Rowardennan!

My husband worked at Loch Lomond during the transition to national park status. Both he and I have very fond memories of the park and of the wardens/rangers who work there. When I find out where I will add some photos to this site.

Grew up in Stronachlachar and Loch Arklet. I am delighted with what is happening particularly the the Great Trossachs Forest. Sorry I won't be around to see it at its best but will tell my grandchild about it.

Surely someone has been back to Loch Lomond this summer? I find it difficult to believe that so many people visit this place of mystery and beauty have no stories to tell of their time there. OK! I know that the weather wasn't brilliant, but surely someone has something to tell about the place. I know I saw some walkers who were 'doing the West Highland Way' and they had a fair amount to say for themselves. Some of it wasn't too good for them like coming across mud instead of footpaths, but if they had writen it down and also the high points, we would have comiserated/rejoyced at their achievement. If nobody says anything; this is going to be a boring site.

We took a wee drive to Loch Lomond yesterday and lo and behold, the loch was frozen, which is the first time since 1963. Some friends of mine had walked over the ice to one of the islands at this time. One of these friends was just a wee boy at the time and never tires of telling us about this period of the lochs history. I just wish he would put his story into the written word and send it in to the site. I took a few photos and they can be found on my page.

I have some great meomories of Loch Lomond, campning with my dad, university field trips and camping trips with my fiends. THe only problem with the area is the disregard that people give to the lochside, campers leaving rubbish and not tidying up their site when they leave it. I was sad in one way when the NP decided to limit camping however I can totally understand why it has to be done, a minority which ruins it for the rest of us.
